"Sundays", an original Movistar Plus+ film written and directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, has won the Golden Shell at the 73rd San Sebastian Film Festival. In addition, "Los Tigres", an original Movistar Plus+ film co-written and directed by Alberto Rodríguez, has been recognised with the Jury Prize for Best Photography for Pau Esteve. Both awards consolidate Movistar Plus+ as the home of Spanish talent and creative excellence.
"Sundays" also received the FIPRESCI prize, an award given by the International Federation of Film Critics to the best film in the Official Selection, the Irizar Award for Basque Cinema, as well as the Feroz Zinemaldia Award from the Spanish Film Critics Association (AICE) and the SIGNIS Award from an international jury made up of members of SIGNIS (International Catholic Association for Communication).
Alauda Ruiz de Azúa said when collecting the Golden Shell: "I love cinema because it always teaches me that you can look at things from a different perspective, try to understand something that is different from you. I don't think that trying to understand something means validating or legitimising it, but we live in a world where there are always people who are different from you, and that's why it's worthwhile for cinema to be a place for reflection and debate".
