Eccho Rights have entered into co-production with German producers Tellux Film, Indiana Production in Italy and Born Wild from the UK, to develop ONE EURO VILLAGE, an original series created by Born Wild’s founder Anthony Alleyne, with co-writer Matteo Berdini.
ONE EURO VILLAGE is a mockumentary series, following events in a small, provincial Italian town that draws an influx of holiday home developers after it announces the sale of its dilapidated housing stock for €1 each. The problem is, a clerical error results in all the new homeowners coming from German-speaking countries who don’t speak a word of Italian. Inspired by true events that have made international headlines in recent years, the series is a fun and light-hearted look at the juxtaposition of cultures between Germans moving to Italy, and the overall search for a sense of community.
“This is a hugely exciting project, a series that works organically as a co-production with international partners. And we are delighted to be among those collaborating in what is a new role for Eccho Rights, as co-producers,” says Nicola Söderlund, Managing Partner at Eccho Rights.
Adam Barth, who joined Eccho earlier this year as Director of Co-productions, Acquisitions, and Development, adds “Eccho Rights is evolving the traditional distribution model into a more complex and participative role as a co-producer. We are aiming to provide producers with expertise in funding and packaging of series enabling them to get their shows on air in the most efficient and financially viable way.”
The German production team is headed up by Philipp Schall, Managing Director of Tellux Film, alongside producer Laura Kirlum. Tellux Film is part of Tellux Group, one of the largest independent film and media companies in Germany.
Producing for Indiana is Daniel Pavoncelli, Head of Film & TV, and Kim Gualino, Head of Development. Indiana Production is a multimedia company founded in 2005 with offices in Milan, Rome, Los Angeles and Berlin.
Born Wild is a UK production company headed by writer and producer Anthony Alleyne, with whom Eccho Rights have a number of projects in development, including ONE EURO VILLAGE, THE CRYSTAL ISLE - a drug smuggling dark black comedy, based on a true story, and backed by national broadcaster RTP in Portugal - and EZEQUIEL HIMES - a post-Apocalyptic Spaghetti Western, featuring telepathic undead, based on a Graphic Novel by acclaimed Spanish Graphic Artists, Victor Santos and Alberto Hernandez.
