RTL+ has commissioned a local version of Optomen Television’s relationship reality format Bad Boyfriends, marking the latest international adaptation of the All3Media-owned property. Produced by filmpool entertainment GmbH, the German version will launch under the title Jetzt wird abrechnung and premiere on RTL+ on June 30. Hosted by Charlotte Engelhardt and Calvin Kleinen, the 10-episode series will roll out in double episodes over five weeks.

The format follows eight men who believe they are heading to Tenerife to participate in a reality show called Bro Island, featuring parties, luxury accommodation and a carefree holiday. Instead, they are confronted by their partners, who use the experience to address issues ranging from jealousy and controlling behavior to immaturity and lack of commitment. As the women remain in a luxury villa, the men are relocated to a separate trailer park known as the Bro Zone, where they must confront their relationship shortcomings through a series of challenges, discussions and emotional reckonings. Throughout the season, couples face tests designed to examine communication, trust, honesty and loyalty.

Blending relationship reality, comedy and emotional storytelling, the format centers on personal growth and accountability while delivering the twists and drama associated with premium unscripted entertainment.

Bad Boyfriends Germany is produced by filmpool entertainment GmbH for RTL+, while All3Media International handles global tape and format distribution rights. The format was originally created by Optomen Television, part of All3Media, and first produced in the UK for ITV. Hosted by Olivia Attwood, the British version has established itself as a returning franchise and is set to come back later this year for a third season on ITV2 and ITVX.
