S4C Opens New Digital Commissioning Opportunities
S4C has launched two new digital commissioning opportunities for producers and content creators in Wales, covering social media content and original factual documentaries for its YouTube channel.
The first initiative is a year-long package of social media commissions, seeking content developed specifically for individual platforms and their audiences. Proposals may include returning formats, standalone ideas, topical content and videos linked to major cultural events and national awareness days.
S4C has also opened a call for original factual documentaries for YouTube, with individual commissions worth up to £40,000. The broadcaster is looking for distinctive stories built around compelling characters and strong creative voices, with the aim of reaching audiences in Wales and internationally.

Guto Rhun, S4C’s Digital Content Commissioner, said: “As I begin my role as Digital Content Commissioner, it's incredibly exciting to be able to share not one, but two fantastic opportunities for new digital commissions. As S4C delivers its More Than a TV Channel strategy and moves towards a digital-first future, it is more important than ever that we meet our audiences where they are watching, with bold content that cuts through the noise. This is just the beginning of our work to develop a long-term strategy for our digital commissions on YouTube, and I look forward to working with my fellow commissioners and the production sector in Wales to bring that vision to life.”
S4C Chief Executive Geraint Evans added: “The S4C and TAC conference has established itself as a key event for the sector in Wales, providing an opportunity for us to listen, share ideas and shape the future together. This year, it was great to have YouTube present as we continue to develop a closer relationship with the popular viewing platform, helping bring the Welsh language into the lives of audiences where they are already watching and engaging with content.By working closely with producers and content creators, we can ensure that stories from Wales and in the Welsh language reach new audiences.”
