The 23rd Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie, founded and presided over by Ezio Greggio, returns to the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco from November 11–14, 2026, celebrating international comedy through a selection of eight feature films exploring relationships, social tensions and contemporary contradictions.
The festival will open with the world premiere of Leonardo Pieraccioni’s Un Weekend Artificiale, screening out of competition. The Italian comedy explores artificial intelligence through the story of seven strangers invited to a luxury villa, where they must identify a humanoid hidden among them.
Seven international films will compete for the festival awards:
- Altas Capacidades (Spain), directed by Víctor García León, satirises middle-class ambition and social privilege.
- Pizza Movies (Spain), directed by Carlo Padial, follows a struggling film critic launching a cinema-themed pizzeria.
- Dov’è la Fiesta? (Italy), directed by Niccolò Gentili, combines romance and chaotic misadventures following a car theft.
- The Invite (USA), directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Penélope Cruz, Edward Norton and Seth Rogen, is an American adaptation of Cesc Gay’s *Sentimental*.
- Agnes & Amir (Germany), directed by Helena Hufnagel, explores an unlikely friendship between an elderly German woman and a young Iranian refugee.
- Camembert (France), directed by Matthieu Rumani and Nicolas Slomka, stars Kristin Scott Thomas in a sharp family comedy about class tensions.
- È Andata Così (Italy), directed by Gianni Zanasi, features Valentina Lodovini, Valerio Mastandrea and Michele Riondino in an unconventional family story.
The programme also includes the Short Comedy Award 2026, featuring four competing shorts: Zohra Sans Permis by Pierre-Loup Docteur (France), Please Hold by Donald McQuade (USA), Olive by India Santella (Italy) and Serenade by Eulalie Elsker (France).
The festival will culminate with the Awards Gala on Saturday, November 14, at the Grimaldi Forum.
Held under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the event continues its mission to promote comedy as a universal cinematic language, combining entertainment with reflections on contemporary society.
