Turkish production and distribution company Inter Medya has announced that its feature film Ancient Blue (Kadim Mavi) has been selected for the National Feature Film Competition at the 63rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, one of Türkiye’s leading film events.
Directed by Emir Ziyalar, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Doruk Kumkumoğlu, the film marks Ziyalar’s feature directorial debut and represents another step in Inter Medya’s expansion into international feature film distribution.
Starring Umut Aksoy, Tülin Özen, Barış Kolik, Yaşar Karakulak, Öykü Su Okur, Musa Öztep and Bilgi Nur Aydoğmuş, Ancient Blue follows Kenan Yelkıran (Aksoy), a solitary fisherman whose boat is seized over unpaid debts. After disappearing during a violent storm, he unexpectedly returns to shore two months later, with no memory of what happened during his absence. What begins as a mystery gradually develops into a psychological drama exploring guilt, trauma and repressed memories.
The film also stands out for its distinctive visual approach. Cinematographer Murat Emkuzhev combines digital colour photography with 35mm black-and-white footage and changing aspect ratios, creating a visual language that reinforces the story’s psychological themes.
Inter Medya is handling the film’s international distribution, adding Ancient Blue to its expanding feature film catalogue as the company continues to diversify beyond its established portfolio of Turkish television dramas. The winners of the festival’s National Feature Film Competition are scheduled to be announced during the official closing ceremony.
