M Media Appoints Ryan Dias and Sarah Zammit to key executive roles
M Media has appointed Ryan Dias as VP of operations and Sarah Zammit as VP of content and development, as the newly established Canadian production company moves its first feature documentary, Ground Control, into production. Founded this summer by editor, showrunner, creator and executive producer Marlo Miazga, M Media is also advancing several projects in development, some of which are expected to be announced shortly.

Zammit is an award-winning executive producer, showrunner, writer and director whose credits include Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan, Hotel Paranormal with Dan Aykroyd, Fear Thy Neighbour, Mysteries from Above and CBC/Netflix’s Bollywed. Dias brings nearly 20 years of experience in Canadian film and television, with more than 40 credits across line producing, production management and production accounting. Both executives previously worked with Miazga at Newroad Media, the independent production company he co-founded with director and producer Ann Marie Redmond in 2011.

“This year has been seismic for us, securing a TV and theatrical greenlight for our first feature documentary, Ground Control, while also igniting a host of advanced development projects and exciting new partnerships. I’ve worked with both Sarah and Ryan extensively in the past, always hoping to bring them on board full-time. As freelancers, they were highly sought after, but now, their skills will cement and ensure the creation and delivery of our pipeline, both now and in the future. As colleagues, I couldn’t rate them more highly,” said Miazga.

Ground Control is financed by Telefilm Canada’s Theatrical Documentary Program, the Canada Media Fund’s POV program and the Rogers Documentary Fund, and was commissioned by CBC. The feature documentary has entered production. The project is also linked to Miazga’s memoir, Ground Control: Losing My Child to Suicide, which was commissioned by Random House Canada, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The book recounts the loss of her 14-year-old child, Mars, to suicide in November 2020 and its aftermath.
