APC Studios has secured further international sales for Still Waters, the second season of Welsh psychological thriller Y Golau / The Light in the Hall, following the series’ two wins at this month’s BAFTA Cymru Awards. The latest deals see CANAL+ Group’s POLAR+ acquire the series for France, French-speaking Belgium and Switzerland, while RTP has picked it up for Portugal and TV Telma for North Macedonia. APC Studios handles worldwide distribution of the series.
Produced by Long Story TV, APC Studios and Triongl, Still Waters (6x52’) won the BAFTA Cymru award for Television Drama, while Mali Evans received the Editing award. The series was made for Welsh public broadcaster S4C and AMC Networks’ AMC+, in North America, Australia and New Zealand, in association with Channel 4 and with support from the Welsh Government through Creative Wales.
Set in the fictional town of Llanemlyn, the six-part drama follows trainee journalist Caryl as a controversial reservoir expansion reignites long-standing tensions and prompts an investigation into a fatal bombing in 1995. Her search for the truth exposes secrets that have shaped the town over three decades. The anthology’s second chapter stars Sian Reese-Williams, Mark Lewis Jones, Nia Roberts, Robert Glenister, Tom Rhys Harries and Maeve Courtier-Lilley. Regina Moriarty created the series.
Previously announced international sales for Still Waters include BritBox in the Nordics, RTÉ in Ireland, RÚV in Iceland, RTS in French-speaking Switzerland, Proximus in Belgium and Pickbox NOW across Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bulgaria.
