Prime Video’s The House of the Spirits, adapted from Chilean author Isabel Allende’s novel, generated more than US$25 million in estimated worldwide streaming subscriber revenue during its debut quarter in Q2 2026, according to Parrot Analytics research presented in partnership with the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP). The series was also estimated to have driven more than 85,000 subscriber signups worldwide during the quarter.
Among titles from Spain, Portugal and Latin America, The House of the Spirits recorded Prime Video’s highest estimated worldwide subscriber revenue contribution in a debut quarter since Betty, la fea: The Story Continues premiered in Q3 2024. Parrot Analytics estimated that the latter generated more than US$30 million in subscriber revenue during its debut quarter.
The findings were presented by Jaime Otero, VP partnerships at Parrot Analytics, during the session Show Me the Data: Content Without Borders – How to Win Over Audiences and Markets Globally at the NALIP Media Summit 2026, held on October 22–23 at the W Hollywood in Los Angeles. The event brought together creators, executives and investors to explore sustainable business opportunities within the independent entertainment sector. “Latino stories and talent resonate with audiences far beyond our communities and across borders,” said Diana Luna, executive director of NALIP. “Our partnership with Parrot Analytics provides the data to demonstrate the global demand and commercial value of Latino storytelling. By putting this intelligence into the hands of independent producers, we're helping them make a stronger business case for investment, distribution, and the opportunities their stories deserve.”
The research also examined adaptations of established Latin American intellectual property, including the Argentine graphic novel The Eternaut and Laura Esquivel’s Like Water for Chocolate. Estimates of their contributions to subscriber acquisition and retention illustrated the potential value of these adaptations to streaming platforms, offering insights for producers and rights holders assessing development and distribution opportunities.
Casting and performers’ existing audience reach were another focus. The House of the Spirits stars Mexican actor Alfonso Herrera and Argentine actor Dolores Fonzi, both of whom had established audiences in their home markets before the series premiered. Between April 26 and May 25, 2026, Argentina and Mexico ranked among the series’ three highest-demand markets outside Chile, according to the analysis.
The presentation further examined the international revenue potential of locally adapted entertainment formats. Parrot Analytics estimated that markets outside the home territory accounted for 53.7% of the Mexican adaptation of LOL: Last One Laughing’s streaming platform revenue contribution and 62.9% of the Argentine version’s contribution over the period from Q1 2020 to Q1 2026. “International audiences belong in the Latino business case from the start,” said Otero. “Understanding where IP and performers already have an audience can help producers assemble projects with measurable international potential.”
