ne of the hottest trends in the international television industry is getting its own festival, and it comes straight from Spain. As vertical dramas continue to attract growing attention from producers, distributors and digital platforms worldwide, Mallorca is preparing to host Vertifest Magaluf, a new international event entirely dedicated to the fast-expanding short-drama market.
The first edition will take place on November 24–25, 2026, in Magaluf, Calvià (Mallorca), with the ambition of becoming a major European meeting point for professionals working in vertical storytelling.
Designed specifically for mobile consumption, vertical dramas feature short episodes, typically lasting up to two minutes, with seasons comprising between 30 and 60 instalments. Already a major business in Asia, the format is rapidly gaining momentum in Europe. According to Omdia figures cited by the organisers, the global vertical drama market reached $11 billion in 2025 and is expected to double by 2030.
Vertifest Magaluf aims to bring together the creative and business sides of this emerging industry, connecting producers, screenwriters, directors, platforms, brands and investors while positioning Spain as a potential hub for vertical content production.
The programme will feature VERTIPITCH CALVIÀ, a national pitching initiative selecting ten vertical drama projects to be presented to industry professionals. Alongside the pitching sessions, VERTITALKS will offer a series of inspirational presentations exploring the creative and commercial opportunities of the format, while dedicated business roundtables will bring together key players from the vertical content ecosystem.
The choice of Mallorca reflects the island's growing reputation as an audiovisual destination, strengthened by its experience hosting international industry events such as Conecta Fiction.
Conceived as an annual event, Vertifest Magaluf is produced by BIAM, Be a Child Group Productions, TBC Agency, El Destino Producciones and Onza, with institutional support from the Balearic Islands.
