During MIPCOM Cannes 2026, Formatbiz had the pleasure of meeting Javier Martínez, Managing Director of the newly launched Victoria House, who shared with us the exciting developments behind the transformation of You First Originals and the company's ambitious plans for the international market.
After five years of producing premium content for global platforms, You First Originals is officially becoming Victoria House (by GERSH), following the integration of You First into the international entertainment group GERSH.
The rebranding marks a new chapter for the Madrid-based production company, which aims to preserve its creative independence and distinctive storytelling approach while benefiting from GERSH's international network and resources.
Over the past five years, the company has built a strong reputation through original productions for Netflix, HBO Max and Prime Video, earning two International Emmy nominations and winning the 2025 International Emmy Award for It's All Over: The Kiss That Changed Spanish Football.
Javier Martínez will continue to lead Victoria House as Managing Director, overseeing its creative and production strategy within GERSH International Content, headed by Luis Calvo. "VICTORIA HOUSE represents both continuity and evolution," said Martínez. "Our ambition remains the same: to create premium stories with cultural relevance and international reach. We are proud of everything we have built over the last five years and excited about what comes next. With the support and global network of GERSH, we are entering a new phase with greater creative ambition than ever before."
Among the projects highlighted in the company's new slate is CRIMINOPATÍA, a documentary series for Netflix based on the successful true-crime podcast of the same name. Co-created by Martínez and Luis Calvo, the project will adapt the established podcast IP into a documentary format specifically developed for television.
Victoria House is also taking its first steps into scripted storytelling with a feature film inspired by the life and career of Spanish football star Alexia Putellas. The film is currently shooting and is scheduled for theatrical release in 2027.
Looking ahead, the company is developing four additional scripted and documentary projects, with planned releases between 2027 and 2029.
Luis Calvo, Head of Content at GERSH International, emphasised that Victoria House will continue operating as a creative boutique while taking advantage of the opportunities offered by a global entertainment group.
