Another highlight of this year’s selection is the potential of original IP to move across media. Feature film project A Sketch in Scarlet and series project Leaf and Tree began as acclaimed novels selected previously for TCCF’s Story segment. Both have now advanced into screen development and will pitch in this year’s Project segment, illustrating the potential of literary works to evolve into high-quality screen productions while reinforcing TCCF’s role as a platform for cross-sector collaboration. The 2026 edition also introduces a new prize structure. Each of the four main pitching sessions will offer a major award worth at least USD 30,000, replacing the previous model centered on a single top prize across all four sessions. Combined, the sponsored awards bring the total prize pool to more than TWD 10 million. Selected teams will additionally be able to apply for up to TWD 3 million in early-stage development funding through TAICCA’s Creative Content Development Program, providing further support for Taiwanese film and television projects pursuing international financing.
The Project segment features a strong selection of feature film and series projects. My Cringe Love Notebook is an international co-production between South Korean entertainment company CJ ENM and Taiwan’s YOOSONN Entertainment. Japanese production company K2 Pictures is behind the sci-fi drama UFO Club, while the Taiwan-Japan co-production The Song About Green brings together Japan Academy Film Prize-winning screenwriter MUKAI Kōsuke and acclaimed director YAMASHITA Nobuhiro.
Among the series projects, the Taiwan-US action drama Bang & Burn is produced by Hollywood actress Gina Torres in collaboration with an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter. The 16th Night Kitchen, brings together a producer from the record-breaking Japanese series Hanzawa Naoki and the novel’s original author for a Taiwanese adaptation. The Project selection also includes Taxi Driver, adapted from the successful Korean series of the same name and reimagined as a Taiwanese vigilante justice story by the directing team behind The Victims’ Game. Documentary projects include Parachute Kids, directed by S. Leo Chiang.
Animation is another strong component of this year’s line-up. Achugogo: Tale of the Spring Chaser brings together an international directing team with credits on Marvel and Toei Animation projects and three Emmy nominations. Cosmos Princess is being developed by the production team behind the Academy Award- and Golden Globe-winning animated feature Flow. Meanwhile, Wilderness of the Greenriver, which won the TWD 1 million Grand Prize at the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion, aims to use its TCCF selection as another step toward the international market.
TCCF PITCHING’s Story segment presents projects across Fiction & Non-Fiction and Comics. The Fiction & Non-Fiction session includes author LIU Ka-shiang’s Alpha Scorpii in summer : Tadao Kano’s experience growing up in Taiwan, which explores the life of a naturalist during the Japanese colonial era, as well as Kevin Chen’s latest novel, The Three Witches of Shetou. The Comics session covers a similarly broad range of stories and international projects. Op.9 The Swan, a rare Taiwanese science-fiction title exploring the value of life. Underdog Reborn, the first webtoon adaptation of PILI Puppetry, received an Honorable Mention in the Comics Category of the 2026 Best IP Awards.
Born for the Spotlight director YEN Yi-wen said that each selected work provides insight into the questions about life that its creator is most interested in exploring at this stage. KANO producer HSU Kuo-lun, meanwhile, highlighted his particular interest in adaptation projects, pointing to compelling characterization as the key to creating dramatic tension. The 2026 Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) will take place from November 6 to 9 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
