Federation Kids & Family and ZDF Studios have confirmed a raft of international sales for the hit tween adventure series The Lady Grace Mysteries, with RAI among the latest broadcasters to acquire the first season, underscoring the show's growing global appeal just months after its BBC debut. The first season, which premiered on the BBC four months ago, has now been licensed to a number of major public broadcasters, including RAI (Italy), NHK (Japan), HOT (Israel), ABC (Australia), Radio-Canada (Canada), RTS (Switzerland), YLE (Finland), NRK (Norway) and NPO (the Netherlands). Meanwhile, the recently announced second season—currently entering principal photography—has already secured pre-sales with HOT (Israel), ABC (Australia) and RTS (Switzerland).
Produced by Cottonwood Media and Coolabi Productions, the series is commissioned by ZDF Studios and BBC Children's and Education. Across its first two seasons, The Lady Grace Mysteries will comprise 23 x 24-minute episodes.
Monica Levy, Co-Chief of Distribution at Federation Kids & Family, said: "This is such an exciting, feel-good drama — the historical setting gives it real texture and richness, and the story is told with such a modern sensibility that it feels fresh and relatable today. The universal themes, the wit, the sense of adventure — it all translates beautifully across markets. Working with our wonderful partners on this series is fantastic as we all share the same vision. Season one has been a genuine triumph since it launched a few months ago, with wonderful reviews pouring in, and the momentum keeps building — we're in active negotiations on several fronts and can't wait to share more exciting news very soon."
Arne Lohmann, VP Junior at ZDF Studios, added: “The fantastic broadcaster response to The Lady Grace Mysteries highlights the enduring appeal of premium, character-driven storytelling for young audiences. Lady Grace is a smart, courageous and relatable heroine whose adventures resonate across cultures and territories. We are delighted that so many leading broadcasters have embraced the series and are equally pleased to see early confidence in Season 2 through these pre-sales.”
Based on the bestselling children's novels, The Lady Grace Mysteries follows Lady Grace Cavendish, a 14-year-old detective and private spy serving Queen Elizabeth I during the Elizabethan era. Blending historical intrigue with coming-of-age storytelling, the series follows Grace and her friends as they investigate crimes, foil assassination plots and navigate the challenges of adolescence in the royal court.
