Set in the eccentric town of Nompton – once celebrated as the Home of the Gnome and now largely forgotten despite its unusual legacy – the story follows Senior Sergeant Arnold Kipps as his routine life is upended by the return of Ellie McKay, who arrives with plans to close his police station. The situation quickly spirals when Kipps unintentionally awakens an ancient Gnome Queen, unleashing a chaotic ceramic apocalypse. With the town under threat, Kipps and Ellie are forced to set aside their differences and assemble an unlikely team of misfits, alongside two undercover demon hunters, to confront an army of hostile garden gnomes.
Holly A. Hines (Ginny & Georgia) and Eric Jarboe (Falling for Christmas) act as Executive Producers for Happy Accidents. The series was created by filmmaker Joel Kohn, founder of Screen Invaders, and produced alongside John Molloy (“Barons”, “The Gloaming”) and Richard Kelly (“The Tailings”, “Jones Family Christmas”), who serve as Executive Producers for Total Fiction.
Holly A. Hines and Eric Jarboe, Executive Producers and Co-CEO’s at Happy Accidents, say: “From start to finish, it has been a joy to bring GNOMES to life. Wildly imaginative, hilariously offbeat, and unlike anything else in comedy horror, it is truly a thrill ride that is equal parts ridiculous and terrifying. Finding the perfect homes for the series with Disney+ in the UK & Ireland and AMC Global Media for Spain and Portugal, following strong competitive interest, feels incredibly rewarding. We can’t wait for audiences to discover the show and experience its madness for themselves.”
The project was originally commissioned by Stan in Australia and later acquired by ZDFneo in Germany via ZDF Studios’ subsidiary Network Movie, with Happy Accidents handling international distribution.
