Primitives has confirmed that FOX has officially renewed entertainment format 99 to Beat for a second season in the United States, reinforcing the continued international expansion of one of Belgium’s most successful unscripted exports. Originally created by VRT and De Chinezen, the large-scale competition format continues to deliver strong results in its home market. The recently concluded seventh season in Belgium achieved an average 43.1% market share and peaked at 51% across all key demographics.

Built around a simple but high-stakes elimination structure, 99 to Beat combines comedy, tension and large-scale competition, with contestants facing a series of unexpected challenges where the core objective is to avoid finishing last. With the FOX renewal, Primitives underlined the format’s growing international traction and its positioning as a scalable entertainment concept designed for broad audiences.

NRK’s Team Spirit Wins Big at Gullruten Awards
Primitives also highlighted the success of Team Spirit, the Norwegian factual entertainment format produced for NRK, which emerged as one of the major winners at this year’s Gullruten Awards, taking home Best Reality & Lifestyle Program and the Audience Award. The series follows a group of teenagers with physical or cognitive disabilities as they train together for a major sporting challenge under the guidance of a national sports icon. Through teamwork, setbacks and achievements, the format delivers an emotional narrative focused on inclusion, resilience and friendship.

Season 2 proved to be a strong performer for NRK, reaching more than 1.1 million viewers and securing a 49% audience share, alongside solid streaming results. Following this success, Season 3 is currently in production for a 2027 broadcast. The format is also expanding internationally, with option agreements recently signed in Sweden and Denmark.
