Today officially marks the opening of Conecta Magaluf, (Mallorca, May 25-28), although yesterday already offered a first taste of the event with the Creative Lab and a cocktail gathering at the rooftop garden of the INNSiDE Mallorca hotel, set against a stunning backdrop overlooking the island.
On Monday morning, the Conecta Creative Lab launched the programme with an exclusive think tank involving fifty participants and representatives from leading international consultancy firms including Parrot Analytics, OMDIA, Glance, the European Audiovisual Observatory and GECA. The rotating round-table discussions focused on six key strategic areas: digital-first content and new funding models, vertical microdramas, sports IP, branded entertainment, AI-driven production and audiovisual regulation. The initiative will culminate in the publication of the CONECTA Mallorca Report, a strategic industry analysis summarising the forum’s key findings and recommendations.
Géraldine Gonard, director of Conecta opened the three-day event in Palma de Mallorca in the presence of local authorities, from the mayor to regional representatives, underlining the growing importance of the audiovisual industry in promoting the Balearic Islands as an international hub for creativity, production and co-production. Conecta is also celebrating its tenth edition while inaugurating its new venue at the Meliá Calvià Beach hotel in Mallorca, now operating under the new Conecta Magaluf-Mallorca brand.
Organized by Inside Content as part of its Event Conecta platform, the gathering reflects the steady growth of the forum over the past decade, consolidating its role as a direct exchange hub for the European audiovisual industry. Highlighting the scale of the next three days’ agenda, Conecta director Géraldine Gonard noted: “This year the event features more than forty activities with nearly one hundred speakers, in a year when we celebrate our tenth anniversary by focusing on the key players shaping the industry, from creators to distributors, investors and media outlets.”
Institutional support once again serves as a fundamental pillar of this edition, with local and regional authorities — including Jaume Bauzà, Regional Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Balearic Islands, and Juan Antonio Amengual, Mayor of Calvià — backing the relocation of the event to Magaluf. The initiative aims to reposition the destination through the creative and audiovisual industries, bringing major professional events to a location traditionally associated with seasonal tourism.
Among the major announcements for this year’s edition is the launch of the new RTVE Play Award, a €5,000 development grant for the Pitch Vertical Series project that best reflects the creative values promoted by RTVE’s streaming platform. The initiative reinforces the broadcaster’s support for emerging talent and digital-native storytelling.
The “Focus on Commissioners” sessions have also expanded with the participation of senior executives including Mar Díaz (RTVE), Margarida Pereira (TVI), Diego del Pozo (Atresmedia) and Conxa Orea (3Cat). Additionally, Bibiana González, Head of Content Networks & Streaming Non-Scripted Original Production at HBO Max Spain, will deliver a keynote exploring the platform’s strategy in serialized non-fiction content and true crime storytelling.
This morning, the invitation-only Conecta SUMMIT gathers twenty leading international executives to discuss one of the industry’s most urgent challenges: protecting and monetising intellectual property in a market increasingly shaped by AI, financial pressure and digital-first formats. Participants include executives from SkyShowtime, Prime Video, HBO Max, TVI, atresplayer and other major players from Europe and Latin America.
The programme also introduces new panels dedicated to the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem, including discussions on digital-first production models and a special conversation with Tim Crescenti, founder of Small World IFT, focused on identifying globally adaptable entertainment formats by M.Chiara Duranti, founder and chief editor of Formatbiz.
Alongside its professional activities, Conecta FICTION FEST continues to bring premium content to local audiences through special screenings at the Casal de Peguera auditorium in Calvià. Highlights include the premiere of Mallorca Confidencial and a special screening of the new Movistar Plus+ series Many People Need to Die, recently selected for Canneseries 2026.
