BBC Secures Nordic Crime Drama The Uniform for UK Debut on iPlayer and BBC Four
BBC has acquired the Nordic crime series The Uniform, which will premiere in the UK on BBC iPlayer and BBC Four following a deal with Fremantle. Produced by Fremantle’s Miso Film and directed by Jonas Alexander Arnby, the 6x60-minute drama explores the devastating consequences of loyalty, ambition and corruption inside a divided and highly competitive Danish police academy.

The story begins when a young trainee discharges his weapon, resulting in a fatality that sends shockwaves through the institution. As the incident becomes public, it sparks widespread outrage and political pressure, triggering a battle over the future of policing in Denmark. At the centre of the fallout is Youssef, played by Soheil Bavi, a promising trainee whose career is derailed by the shooting. As the academy goes into lockdown and blame escalates, his relationship with fellow cadet Daniel, played by Marco Ilsø, fractures under suspicion, while his connection with first-year trainee Freja, played by Clara Rosager, begins to reveal deeper institutional secrets. Overseeing the academy is Sanne Hammerby, played by Lene Maria Christensen, a newly appointed principal tasked with reforming the institution. However, as old loyalties clash with reformist ideals, her mission quickly turns into a search for truth within a broken system.

The Uniform originally premiered on DRTV on February 20, 2026, where it became one of DR’s strongest launches in recent years, drawing more than 1.5 million viewers and a 47% share of television viewing in Denmark.

Jamie Lynn, EVP Co-Production & Distribution, EMEA, International at Fremantle, said: “The Uniform delivers everything you’d want from a standout crime drama - complex characters, a tense coming-of-age story, and a fresh take on law enforcement that really sets it apart. Miso are true experts in their field and, alongside an exceptional creative team, have delivered a compelling series that has already performed incredibly well in Denmark, with ratings that speak for themselves. Given the success of Miso’s acclaimed titles The Investigation and Those Who Kill with BBC audiences, we’re confident this series will resonate just as strongly.”
Nick Lee, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, said: “With its moral complexity and depth of character The Uniform is a confident and deeply engaging drama. Audiences will be drawn into the world of elite rookie cops, all with that trademark Scandinavian prestige our viewers love.”

The Uniform is produced by Sofie Bergstein, Jonas Allen and Peter Bose for Miso Film. It is written by Oscar Giese and Anders August, and directed by Jonas Alexander Arnby, with Fremantle handling international sales.
