CNN Series K-Everything Highlights CJ ENM’s Global Impact On K-Culture
CJ ENM is being spotlighted for its role in shaping and globalizing K-culture through the new K-Everything documentary series hosted and executive produced by Daniel Dae Kim. Premiering globally on May 9, the four-part CNN Original Series explores the rise of Korean entertainment and culture, examining how K-content evolved into a worldwide phenomenon driven by storytelling, innovation and industrial infrastructure.

Across the series, CJ ENM is recognized for building the creative ecosystem behind Korean film, drama, music and entertainment, with a particular focus on the company’s long-term investment strategy and international expansion over the last three decades.
The K-Pop episode examines how platforms including KCON, the MAMA AWARDS and audition format Superstar K helped establish a sustainable global industry by strengthening the relationship between artists, audiences and the wider entertainment business.
Meanwhile, the K-Film episode traces CJ’s cultural business journey from its 1995 investment in DreamWorks to the international success of Korean cinema, highlighting titles including Joint Security Area, Parasite, Extreme Job and No Other Choice.

Miky Lee is featured throughout the documentary as one of the central figures behind the global expansion of Korean culture. Reflecting on CJ’s early investment strategy, Lee said: “Entertainment business is making intangible assets into tangible, lucrative business. You need to build infrastructure that the creators and artists can continue to create the storytelling and their performance and their creative activity.” Looking ahead, Lee emphasized the importance of authenticity and cultural connection in global storytelling. “As long as we have that good storytelling with authenticity, and as long as our goal is not just promoting Korean culture — our goal is to bring everybody together,” she said. Kim also praised Lee’s long-term vision for Korean entertainment, stating that she “practically built an entire industry to export Korean culture,” while noting that CJ’s support helped filmmakers including Bong Joon Ho gain international visibility.

The series revisits CJ’s backing of globally recognized Korean films including Oldboy and Academy Award-winning Parasite, as well as hit dramas produced by Studio Dragon such as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Mr. Sunshine and Genie, Make a Wish.
The documentary also explores CJ’s influence beyond film and television, highlighting CGV and its 4DX cinema technology, along with CJ Olive Young as a leading platform within the rapidly expanding K-beauty market.
