9 Light Entertainment has launched a dedicated unscripted division with new reality format Lights, Camera…Kitchen! (4x27’), commissioned by Bell Fibe TV1 in Canada. The Toronto-based producer confirmed the series will debut on Fibe TV1 on May 28.
Blending behind-the-scenes access with the pressure and humour of a working kitchen, the series follows entrepreneurs and business partners Nataliya and Leeza, whose catering business serves film and television productions. Joined by members of their families across multiple generations, the format tracks the challenges of balancing demanding shoots, family dynamics and tight production schedules across locations including Northern Ontario.
Each episode follows both the catering operation and the productions they service, exploring menu planning, workplace tensions, entrepreneurial challenges and life on set. The format also focuses on themes of identity, resilience and collaboration through the lens of a family-run business.
The launch marks an expansion for 9 Light Entertainment, which said the new division will focus on internationally oriented unscripted formats and co-productions. Lights, Camera…Kitchen! was developed with global distribution potential in mind.
9 Light Entertainment's founder Pasha Patriki said: “With the launch of our unscripted division, we wanted our first project to feel deeply human. Lights, Camera…Kitchen! is built around real personalities, real pressure, and the chaos that happens behind the scenes of filmmaking. What makes the series unique is seeing real people reacting to real situations in real time, which gives the show its authenticity. Their resilience, humour, and the way food and hard work bring together very different personalities and backgrounds became one of the most meaningful aspects of the project. In a world that often feels divided, the series is a reminder that collaboration, community and shared purpose still matter"
