Strong Appetite for Talpa Studios’ Hit Formats in Spain
Following its high-profile launch at MIP London and the recent debut on Dutch broadcaster RTL4, Talpa Studios’ new large-scale reality game show The House of Hide & Seek is now heading to Spain, marking another important international adaptation for the ambitious entertainment format.
Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has officially commissioned a local version of the format.

Created by Talpa Studios in collaboration with Fox Entertainment Studios, The House of Hide & Seek combines elements of physical gameplay, celebrity reality competition and visual puzzle-solving. The format places six celebrities inside a massive two-storey house featuring more than 130 potential hiding spots. Throughout the competition, contestants solve visual puzzles to accumulate prize money inside a portable vault known as the “Moneyball.” They must then strategically hide while carrying the vault and avoid being discovered in order to remain in the game.
The final showdown sees the last two contestants facing off in a tense race against time: one celebrity hides the “Moneyball,” while the other attempts to locate it before the clock runs out. As an additional emotional hook, the final cash prize is donated to a charity selected by the winner.

The Spanish adaptation will be produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Spain together with Talpa Studios, while filming is expected to take place at the Dutch production hub already used for the original version.

The commission further confirms Spain’s growing appetite for large-scale entertainment and quiz-based formats, particularly those combining celebrity casting, spectacle and strategic gameplay. Current Spanish ratings underline the strength of the genre. Long-running quiz show Pasapalabra on Antena 3 remains one of the country’s top-performing programmes with more than 1.8 million viewers and a 20.1% share, while La Ruleta de la Suerte regularly attracts over 1.5 million viewers. Celebrity entertainment formats such as Tu Cara Me Suena and Mask Singer also continue to perform strongly in primetime.

Reality competition formats equally remain a central pillar of the Spanish market, with Supervivientes and La Isla de las Tentaciones consistently delivering strong audience shares for Telecinco.

The commissioning of The House of Hide & Seek arrives amid a particularly active period for Talpa Studios in Spain. RTVE has also renewed quiz format The Floor for a third season, this time produced by the newly launched Stratos Studios, led by Bruno Pena alongside executive producers Fidel Durán and Jaume Serra.
The latest renewal represents the third Spanish production company to handle the format following previous versions produced by Mediacrest and Satisfaction Iberia. RTVE has reportedly signed a contract worth more than €6 million for the new season. Presenter Chenoa is set to return, while casting is already underway.

Meanwhile, Spanish broadcasters continue investing heavily in shiny-floor entertainment. Antena 3 is bringing back The Wheel after a three-year hiatus. The BBC Studios format previously aired locally as El Círculo de los Famosos, averaging around 1.1 million viewers in primetime during its first run.
Regional broadcasters are also expanding their entertainment offering. Telemadrid has commissioned a local adaptation of Keshet International’s word-search game show The Search, titled Sopa de Letras, while Aragón TV has ordered a kids spin-off version, Sopa de Letras Zagales. Both are produced by Globomedia.
