Barrio Esperanza is the most-watched weekly series premiere on La 1 in the past six years (Diarios de cuarentena in 2020 reached 1,697,000 viewers). It led across all target groups between ages 4 and 74: children aged 4–12 (12%), young people aged 13–24 (15.4%), adults aged 25–44 (15%), adults aged 45–64 (16.9%), and those aged 65–74 (15.7%).
Created by Iván Escobar (Los hombres de Paco, Vis a vis) and Antonio Sánchez Olivas (7 vidas, Aída), Barrio Esperanza is a social comedy with sharp, edgy humor and an uplifting tone. Set in a public school, it focuses on second chances and explores everyday challenges both inside and outside the classroom with humor and sensitivity.
The series is executive produced by Iván Escobar, Antonio Sánchez Olivas, María José Rodríguez, and Javier Méndez; directed by Sandra Gallego and Iñaki Peñafiel; and written by a team that also includes Raquel Haro, Abraham Sastre, Marta Sánchez, Javier Reguilón, Raúl Díaz, and Aurora Parrilla.
