It is always deeply saddening to report news like this. Today, we learned with great regret that World Screen, one of the most authoritative and long-standing publications in the international television industry, has ceased its publishing activities after 40 years.
In a note published today, Ricardo Guise President & Publisher wrote: "For four decades, we’ve had the privilege of chronicling the evolution of our industry—from the early days of international program sales to today’s global streaming landscape. This journey would not have been possible without the trust, collaboration and support of our partners, advertisers and readers around the world. We are profoundly grateful to each of you".
Its daily news coverage, in-depth reports and, notably, its market listings have been an essential tool for executives navigating major international events. For many of us, World Screen was not just a source of information, but a trusted companion at every market, offering insight, structure and perspective.
We sincerely hope that the publisher may find an alternative path forward—one that would allow this valuable voice to continue delivering news, analysis and those highly regarded listings that have supported the industry for so long.
We would like to extend our very best wishes to the publisher and the entire editorial team during this transition. Their contribution to the global television business has been immense and will not be forgotten.
There is a saying that when one door closes, another one opens. In this case, we can only hope that what lies ahead is not just another door, but a wide-open gateway to new opportunities and future initiatives.
Thank you, World Screen. You will be missed.
