RTVE Returns to Berlin at the Showcase Organized by ICEX
RTVE unveils its new slate at the Berlinale Series Market at the showcase “SPAIN’s Series: Where Creativity Ignites” organized by ICEX,  including La Frontera, Sin Gluten, Doctora Fabiola Jones, Spain: 20th Century in Color, Passion and Glory, and This Is Spain.
The European Film Market (EFM)—which hosts the Berlinale Series Market—is one of the audiovisual industry’s key events, typically attracting more than 11,500 professionals (producers, buyers, distributors, agencies, etc.). The Berlinale Series Market offers trend-focused panels, pitching sessions, networking opportunities, and a carefully curated selection of high-end premium content available for acquisition, pre-sales, and co-production from across Europe as well as North and South America.

Alongside major scripted series, daily dramas, youth fiction, top entertainment formats, and high-end documentaries will be part of the portfolio presented by RTVE’s international commercial team, led by Key Accounts Director Rosalía Alcubilla.

Key titles include:

La Frontera
This five-part series (5 x 50’) is set in 1987 and focuses on the fight against terrorism. It follows Mario Sanz (Javier Rey), a Civil Guard captain attempting to prevent an ETA splinter group from carrying out an attack in Paris. The story combines a high-stakes police thriller with an impossible love story, unfolding in a race against time marked by betrayal, criminal networks, and moral dilemmas.

Sin Gluten

A ratings leader at launch in Spain and the best comedy debut on La 1 in the past decade, the series follows Ricardo (Diego Martín), a successful chef who refuses to acknowledge his alcohol problem—even after receiving a Michelin star. Following a serious mistake after a night of excess, he is fired and returns to the culinary school where he trained, this time as a teacher. There, his students—young people from diverse backgrounds, some at risk of social exclusion—help him rediscover his passion for cooking and reconnect with a more authentic life.

In addition to these titles, the team will present an extensive multi-genre catalogue, many of which have received international awards.

Doctora Fabiola Jones

Adventure, adrenaline, wildlife protection, and a deep love of nature drive this series set in the African savannah. Through the eyes of a wildlife veterinarian, viewers encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, cheetahs, and hyenas in an immersive journey.

Spain: 20th Century in Color
An engaging and educational series that offers a new perspective on Spain’s past. Featuring footage colorized for the first time and enhanced with realistic sound design, the series traces the country’s history from the late 19th century through the 1960s.

Passion and Glory
A documentary series exploring Spain’s Holy Week through an intimate and sensory approach. Ancient traditions, powerful testimonies, striking visuals, and immersive soundscapes reveal the cultural richness and diversity of this unique celebration.

This Is Spain
A documentary portrait of the country’s natural, historical, and human heritage, and a tribute to those working every day toward a more sustainable and equitable future—offering a collective portrait of a diverse Spain that coexists, innovates, and dreams.
