Annecy Animation Showcase Expands Presence Across Key Global Markets
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival continues to strengthen its year-round international footprint through the Annecy Animation Showcase, an initiative designed to elevate selected projects within major global markets focused on distribution, co-production and financing.

By positioning curated animation titles at the center of leading industry events, the Showcase extends the reach of both the Festival and Mifa beyond their annual June edition. The initiative aims to provide projects with increased visibility among buyers, investors and strategic partners, while supporting filmmakers at key stages ahead of release.

Widely regarded as the world capital of animation, Annecy has built a reputation as a benchmark for artistic excellence and industry leadership. Through an expanding international network and close ties with major audiovisual players, the Festival continues to reinforce animation’s role within the global cultural landscape.

“The Annecy Animation Showcase makes it possible to support a selection of works representative of animation’s artistic and aesthetic diversity in our industry’s major markets and assist films and their teams at crucial stages prior to their release,” said Mickaël Marin, CEO of CITIA and the Annecy Festival.

Animation Day at Cannes

Launched in 2019 as a joint initiative between the Annecy Festival and the Marché du Film of the Festival de Cannes, Animation Day at Cannes places animation in the spotlight for international industry professionals.

Held one month ahead of Annecy, the event has become a key gathering point for the sector. Through the Annecy Animation Showcase in Cannes, a curated selection of projects currently in production are invited to present work-in-progress footage and exclusive first images. The initiative aims to attract distributors, investors and sales agents, while dedicated panel discussions address current industry trends and challenges.

The next Animation Day at Cannes will take place on May 17, 2026.

Ventana Sur Animation

Annecy also continues its collaboration with Ventana Sur, the leading Latin American audiovisual market, organised in coordination with INCAA (National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts), the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes and ACAU (Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Agency).

Through the Annecy Animation Showcase at Ventana Sur, projects from across the continent are selected and presented to international industry players. The initiative underscores Annecy’s ongoing commitment to Latin America, supporting productions distinguished by their narrative and technical diversity.

The next edition will take place in December 2026.
