Viaplay Content Distribution has boarded seasons two and three of the acclaimed Swedish Nordic noir crime thriller Veronika, further extending the international footprint of SkyShowtime’s local original. The series has been recommissioned across more than 20 markets following a strong debut.

After the standout global performance of season one—licensed to 55 international markets—Viaplay Content Distribution will now handle worldwide sales for the upcoming seasons. The series is produced by Bigster and stars Alexandra Rapaport (Gåsmamman, Honour) and Tobias Santelmann (Exit, The Arctic Convoy, Netflix’s upcoming Detective Hole).

Season two premiered on SkyShowtime on December 8, 2025, with season three slated for a 2026 launch. Seasons one and two are currently available to buyers, while season three will be offered post-premiere. Together, the three seasons create a premium multi-season boxset—an attractive proposition for streamers and linear broadcasters seeking proven, high-performing Nordic noir with loyal audiences.

Blending the atmospheric signatures of the genre with psychological tension and emotional depth, Veronika follows police officer Veronika Gren—a woman haunted by visions of the dead—as she tackles complex cases while her personal life teeters on the brink.

Created and written by Katja Juras and Anna Ströman (Gåsmamman), and directed by Academy Award® nominee Mikael Håfström (Evil, Derailed), Veronika is produced by Calle Jansson and Mathias Gruffman for Bigster, with Alexandra Rapaport also serving as Executive Producer. Returning cast members include Tobias Santelmann, Arvin Kananian (Triangle of Sadness, Caliphate), Eddie Eriksson Dominguez and Sarah Rhodin, with Gustav Hammarsten and Hanna Alström joining in season two.
