Inter Medya maintained a steady profile at MIPCANCUN 2025, marking its participation at the event, which continues to consolidate its role as a significant meeting point for the Latin American audiovisual industry. The Turkish distributor used this year’s edition to underscore its scripted portfolio and present new developments aligned with shifting market dynamics.
A focal point of Inter Medya’s presence was the Latin American premiere of the Turkish drama Halef at the Cancun Theatre. Attended by members of the international press and industry professionals, the screening introduced a production set in Şanlıurfa and centered on themes related to family origins and cultural heritage. The company positioned Halef as a title intended to broaden the appeal of Turkish dramas in key export territories.
Inter Medya also highlighted a move into emerging formats with Boardroom to Bedroom, the company’s first vertical drama. Structured in 55 brief episodes of one to two minutes, the title reflects an attempt to engage audiences accustomed to mobile-first viewing patterns. Negotiations are ongoing with several platforms and OTT services to explore distribution opportunities for Turkish vertical dramas beyond domestic borders.
The Istanbul-based distributor reported continued traction for other titles in its catalog, noting that Corazón Negro and Traición have performed solidly in various Latin American markets. MIPCANCUN’s screenings, panels, and networking sessions provided the company with additional touchpoints to sustain its commercial relationships in the region.
Inter Medya’s presence at the market was complemented by recognition at the PRODU Awards 2025. Valley of Hearts, produced by TIMS&B Productions and distributed internationally by Inter Medya, received two awards: Best Contemporary Non-Spanish-Language Telenovela and Best Actor in a Contemporary Non-Spanish-Language Telenovela for Aras Aydın. The ceremony was held online in November, while Inter Medya also acted as a sponsor of the PRODU Awards event staged during MIPCANCUN, which included a gala and industry gathering.
Finally, Can Okan, CEO of Inter Medya, joined a panel at MIPCANCUN 2025 focused on the rapidly growing microdrama sector. The panel, titled "Micro Drama, Mega Audience," included key industry players such as Shawn Wu from China's COL Group and Juan Acosta from Mediapro Studio, and it explored the sector's scope, partnerships, monetization models, and growth potential. Can Okan shared that Inter Medya is actively working on producing between six to ten microdrama projects, emphasizing the company's commitment to this emerging format which is gaining significant traction globally. The microdrama market was highlighted as a major trend at the event, with a projected market value growth from $8 billion to $25 billion by 2030.
