IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol Supports Fifteen New Projects in Final 2025 Call
In its third and final 2025 funding call, the IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol has selected fifteen new projects, including seven directed by women — a clear reflection of IDM’s continued commitment to promoting gender equality in film and television. The slate features a mix of TV series, feature films, documentaries, and short films, spanning genres from mystery and crime to drama and sci-fi.
The funded projects — thirteen from Italy and two from Germany — will bring approximately 52 days of shooting to South Tyrol, engaging local professionals and service companies both during production and post-production.

Among the projects supported in production are:

The Death of Sherlock Holmes
(working title) – a mystery-crime TV series directed by Pierre Monnard and Claudia Blümhuber, produced by Movie.mento Film (Bolzano) and Silver Reel (Switzerland). Set in the Bernese Alps in 1891, the story follows Alma Kohler and her son Franz as they find an unconscious man with no memory — a discovery that soon leads to dark revelations. Filming will take place in Val Venosta.

Q.I. – Questioni Irrisolte (working title) – a dark comedy written and directed by Giovanni Crozza and produced by I.B.C. Movie (Italy). Set entirely in South Tyrol, it follows three self-absorbed artists on a supposed “spiritual retreat” that devolves into a surreal battle between truth and fiction.

Husk (working title) – a German sci-fi drama series produced by U5 Filmproduktion and directed by Mia Maariel Meyer and Tim Trachte. The story explores identity and consciousness as a scientist discovers a way to transfer awareness between two sisters, sparking moral and financial conflict.

Lieferung um jeden Preis – Die letzte Fahrt der Gulf Livestock
(working title) – a documentary by Andreas Pichler, produced by Miramonte Film (Bolzano) and Eikon Media (Germany). It investigates the deadly 2020 sinking of the Gulf Livestock 1, exposing the dark side of global maritime trade.

Shut The F* Up!
(working title)** – a Ukrainian-Italian documentary directed by Taisiia Kutuzova and produced by Helios Sustainable Films (Bolzano) with Crimean Waves. It follows Serhiy, a 16-year-old activist representing a new generation of Ukrainians fighting corruption and defending human rights.

IDM also supports several projects in pre-production, including:

Peak Season
(working title) – a TV drama written by Francesca Bertoni and produced by Paradox Studios Italia, set in the Dolomites’ Sellaronda ski area. When a powerful American businesswoman arrives searching for her missing daughter, hidden truths and local conflicts emerge.

A Fever Dream (working title) – a feature film by Ronny Trocker, co-produced by Junafilm (Germany) and Mater Pictures (Denmark). Loosely inspired by Maria Sibylla Merian’s 1705 masterpiece Metamorphosis insectorum Surinamensium, it examines art, science, and colonial history through a contemporary lens.

Figlia del fieno
(working title) – a drama written and directed by Federica Martino (Albolina Film). Set in wartime Italy, it tells the story of Lucia, an orphan who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation across Europe.

Panoramahotel
(working title) – written by Raffaele Pizzati Sertorelli and Cecilia Bozza Wolf (who also directs), produced by Hive Division. A psychological thriller set in the late 1990s about a former skating prodigy uncovering her family’s dark secrets in a mysterious hotel in the Dolomites.

Eva dorme (working title) – a TV series written by Francesca Melandri and Catherine Linstrum, produced by Viola Film (Italy), Primary Pictures (Austria), and Melograno Films (Los Angeles). It portrays two women’s intertwined lives in multilingual South Tyrol, exploring reconciliation with one’s past and identity.

Opening the Box (working title) – a personal documentary by Georg Manuel Zeller (Bolzano), exploring the epigenetic inheritance of trauma and guilt through his family’s WWII history.

Tra il cane e il lupo (working title) – a hybrid documentary by Marco Vitale and Maria Radicchi (19 Società Cooperativa), blending myth, science, and pastoral tradition to envision new forms of coexistence between humans and nature.

Three short films received production funding:

Accendere un fuoco (working title) – directed by Lorenzo Puntoni, produced by Matto Film and Sayonara Film. Set in the early 1900s, it tells a survival story of a man and his dog facing a deadly winter in the mountains (filming at Passo delle Erbe).

Thunder e mio fratello (working title) – a western drama by Stefania Accettulli and Matteo Raffaelli (Mediaart), about a woman who confronts grief and renewal after her brother’s death.

Howl (working title) – a coming-of-age short by Margherita Panizon and Marco Borromei, developed through IDM’s MASO program. Shot in Laives, it follows a teenager coping with loss through the shared love of natural sounds.
