Iberseries & Platino Industria Unveils New Coproduction and Training Initiatives at Cannes
Iberseries & Platino Industria has unveiled a slate of new initiatives focused on coproduction, training and international business development during the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival. The sixth edition of the Madrid-based industry event, set to run from September 29 to October 2, 2026 at Matadero Madrid, opened calls for its new Euro Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch, alongside the return of its Coproduction and Financing Forum, Showrunner Training Workshop and the new workshop Thinking Like a Producer: Creative Business Strategy.

The presentation was led by Samuel Castro, director of Iberseries and Fundación Secuoya; Carlos Antón, board member of Platino Industria and development director at EGEDA; and Cristina Íñigo, executive director of Iberseries & Platino Industria. Representatives from Film Madrid Region, Madrid Film Office and ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones also attended the event.
One of the main additions for 2026 is Euro Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch, a new initiative within the Euro Atlantic Series Market & Networking program aimed at strengthening coproduction opportunities for fiction, docuseries and animation projects across Europe. The initiative will focus on collaboration between Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Luxembourg, Nordic countries and the UK. Up to seven projects in advanced development will be selected for mentorships, one-to-one meetings and a final pitch session with commissioners and investors. The selection committee includes Laura Miñarro from Buendía Estudios, Diego del Pozo from Atresmedia Televisión, José Fragoso from RTP and Georges Huercano from RTL.

The Coproduction and Financing Forum also returns for 2026, selecting up to 10 series and 10 feature film projects from Ibero-America and Europe. Participants will take part in one-to-one meetings with producers, platforms, distributors, sales agents and financiers. Meanwhile, the sixth edition of the Showrunner Training Workshop, coordinated by The Core School in collaboration with CIMA, will select 12 projects for intensive in-person and online training focused on the creative and executive responsibilities of showrunners.

The event also introduced a new workshop titled Thinking Like a Producer: Creative Business Strategy, led by Leonardo Zimbrón, SVP of Coproduction at 3Pas Studios. The workshop will focus on development strategies, financing and international positioning for audiovisual projects.

All calls remain open until June 11, 2026. Organizers also confirmed that more than 500 projects have already been submitted across the event’s platform and producer pitching sessions.
Backed by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, in collaboration with FIPCA, the event continues to position itself as a key international market for audiovisual production, financing and partnerships across the Spanish- and Portuguese-language industries.
