Finite Films & TV is boosting its unscripted slate with Challengers, a premium YouTube docuseries produced in partnership with the GB1, the British America’s Cup Team, and global sportswear brand North Sails. The second season follows GB1’s preparations for the 38th America’s Cup, offering behind-the-scenes access to the team’s training camps in Portsmouth and Cagliari, Sardinia. The series launches on GB1’s YouTube channel after the success of the first season in 2025, ahead of the 2027 competition.
Led by sailing legend Ben Ainslie, the docuseries tracks the first British team in 90 years to reach an America’s Cup final as it attempts to capture the world’s oldest international sporting trophy. The series combines fly-on-the-wall footage, athlete interviews and cinematic racing sequences, while also featuring new talent from the Athena Pathway’s Women’s and Youth America’s Cup teams.
The project is executive produced by Amy Gardner, with Paddy Hughes serving as creative director.
Amy Gardner, Executive Producer of Challengers and Founder of Finite Films & TV says “Challengers marks our continued collaboration with North Sails and an exciting new partnership with GB1, to spotlight a whole new level of sporting excellence in a digital series. In each episode, members of the GB1 team are put through high-stakes challenges during their training, both on and off the water. There’s a huge appetite for premium access-led sports storytelling, and Challengers gives audiences a rare window into one of the most technically demanding competitions in world sport.”
Sir Ben Ainslie, GB1 Team Principal says “The America's Cup is often cloaked in secrecy, with much of the build-up taking place behind closed doors. We wanted Challengers to change that narrative by inviting fans inside the campaign — capturing the intensity of competing at the highest level, while also revealing the human side of the journey: the pressure, sacrifice and unity required to push for success in one of the toughest competitions in sport.”
