Production has officially begun on Lupin 4, the latest chapter in the globally acclaimed Netflix series. French actor Omar Sy returns in the lead role as Assane Diop, the modern-day gentleman thief who has captivated audiences across France and around the world.
Inspired by the legendary literary character Arsène Lupin, the series has become one of Netflix’s most successful non-English-language productions. Impressively, the first three parts of Lupin rank third, sixth, and tenth in Netflix’s all-time global non-English series chart, a testament to the show’s widespread popularity and international appeal.
Produced by Gaumont in collaboration with Carrousel Studios, the new season promises to raise the bar. “I often say that Lupin is an extraordinary toy,” said Omar Sy. “Every time I return to it, I feel immense joy. Together with Netflix, Carrousel, and Gaumont, we’ve taken the time needed to elevate our ambitions and deliver even more surprises and fun, for both ourselves and the audience. The fresh energy brought in by Carrousel Studios blends perfectly with this vision. I can’t wait to share these new episodes with as many people as possible.”
The series is created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan, with contributions from writers Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine. Loosely inspired by the works of Maurice Leblanc, the new season continues to reinterpret the iconic character of Arsène Lupin for a contemporary audience.
