TrustNordisk to announce that they have picked up the international sales rights for Pernille Fischer Christensen’s upcoming drama Unraveled.

Starring Danica Curcic (OUT STEALING HORSES, 2019 and THE CHESTNUT MAN, 2021) and Lars Ranthe (THE HUNT, 2012 and ANOTHER ROUND, 2020), Unraveled tells a story about a couple caught in the middle of a media storm.

The project will be presented to buyers for the first time during the upcoming Marché du Film in Cannes.
Unraveled is director Pernille Fischer Christensen’s sixth feature film. Fischer Christensen came to international attention with her debut A SOAP (2006) which was selected for Berlin International Film Festival and received the Silver Bear. This was followed by DANCERS (2008), and A FAMILY (2010) for which she received the Fipresci Prize at Berlin International Film Festival in 2010. In 2014, she directed SOMEONE YOU LOVE about a musician who finds love through a grandson he never knew and most recently she directed the drama BECOMING ASTRID (2018) – a biopic focusing on Swedish author Astrid Lindgren’s formative years.

Synopsis
Maria has everything. She is a former elite swimmer, a beloved sports commentator, and lives a good life with her husband, Mikael, and their daughter. Mikael has been her support throughout her life as both her coach, mentor, and later her husband. But when Maria’s friend Janne who is also an editor, tells her about an upcoming book, everything changes. The book describes a young girl’s relationship with her swimming coach, and rumors suggest that it is about Mikael. At first, Maria dismisses it as fiction, but as the novel’s depiction of the girl’s misguided infatuation sparks strong public reactions, the story spreads and Maria is forced to re-evaluate her past. Is their relationship truly as simple and loving as she has always believed?

Unraveled which is currently in early post-production, is written and directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen, produced by Tomas Radoor and Mette Høst Hansen for Nordisk Film Production with support from The Danish Film Institute, Film Fyn, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and TV2 Denmark.
