Plano a Plano Bilbao is expanding its fiction portfolio with Innato, a new thriller series created by Fran Carballal (Cicatriz, Una vida menos en Canarias) and Enrique Lojo (En Fin, Una vida menos en Canarias). The series will star Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In, Wonder Woman, Rifkin’s Festival) and Imanol Arias (Cuéntame cómo pasó).
The series (8x45’) is produced by Plano a Plano Bilbao in collaboration with Innato, La Serie, AIE, and in association with Dynamic Television. Innato is set to begin filming during the first half of this year. The executive producers include César Benítez, Emilio Amaré, Álvaro Benítez, Fran Carballal, Dan March, and Carrie Stein, with direction by Inma Torrente (Valeria, Desaparecidos) and Lino Escalera (Élite, Alta Mar).
This psychological thriller follows the story of Sara (Elena Anaya), a psychologist who has left behind a traumatic past as the daughter of Félix Garay (Imanol Arias), a serial killer once dubbed by the press as “the diesel killer.” Today, Sara has built an idyllic life with her husband Aitor and their teenage son Sebas. However, her world is shaken when Félix is released from prison, coinciding with a new wave of murders that eerily mirror those committed 25 years ago. Having kept her past a secret from her family for years, Sara decides to cooperate with the police to help solve the case—unaware that her son Sebas has uncovered the truth about his grandfather and has been obsessing over his story for some time. Sara’s life spirals out of control when she begins to suspect that this time, it may not be her father behind the killings, but her own son.
Dynamic Television will serve as the international distributor for the series, expanding its catalog of premium international drama. Innato marks the company's first venture into Spanish-language content. Additionally, Netflix has joined the project by acquiring exclusive streaming rights for Spain.
César Benítez, the series’ executive producer, expressed his enthusiasm: "It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to collaborate with Netflix again, which continues to trust us and support our project." He added, "Having Dynamic Television on board for INNATO is a significant boost to the project's quality and global visibility. We are delighted that they recognize the series’ international potential and are confident that their strong distribution network and privileged market position will help bring INNATO to audiences worldwide."
Daniel March, partner and general director of Dynamic Television, also shared his excitement: "This collaboration with Innato, La Serie, AIE, Plano a Plano Bilbao, and Netflix represents the best of international fiction. Innato is a psychological thriller that explores deep themes of guilt, punishment, and forgiveness, and it will captivate audiences with its intensity. We are thrilled to bring it to viewers around the world."
