Madrid Audiovisual Cluster Puts Innovation and International Growth at the Heart of Iberseries
The Madrid Audiovisual Cluster used its presence at Iberseries & Platino Industria 2026 to showcase the strength of the region’s audiovisual ecosystem, while promoting innovation, new technologies, internationalisation and new business opportunities for local companies and professionals. The sixth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria took place from September 30 to October 2 at Matadero Madrid, bringing together platforms, broadcasters, production companies, distributors, buyers, investors, creators and other industry professionals from across the Ibero-American audiovisual sector.

As part of its participation, the Madrid Audiovisual Cluster operated a container pavilion at Plaza Matadero, which became a networking and meeting point for companies and professionals throughout the event. The space hosted meetings with representatives from the European and Latin American audiovisual industries, including Iris Bucher, CEO and Producer of Quad Drama (France); Joao Maia, Head of Business and Coproductions at SPI (Portugal); Marcela Kartaszewicz, Head of Communications at DramaBox; David Urgell, Country Manager Iberia and Business Development South Europe at BBC Studios (Spain); and Alexander Marín, VP at RNC Televisión (Colombia). The meetings provided an opportunity to strengthen links with companies and executives from different territories and markets, while creating opportunities to explore collaboration, co-production and business development.

The Cluster also organised and participated in professional sessions addressing some of the key challenges and opportunities facing the audiovisual industry. One of the highlights was the workshop Innovation Cases in the Audiovisual Industry: New Businesses, Use of AI and Other Emerging Technologies, which explored through practical examples how technological innovation is transforming the sector and creating new business models and solutions. The session examined the application of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, alongside the evolution of business models and the opportunities created by the technological transformation of the audiovisual sector.

The Cluster’s programme also included Meet Tanja Meissner, Director of Berlinale Pro, bringing industry professionals together with Tanja Meissner, director of Berlinale Pro, the professional platform of the Berlin International Film Festival encompassing initiatives including the European Film Market, Berlinale Co-Production Market, Berlinale Talents and World Cinema Fund. In conversation with international consultant Rosa Bosch, Meissner shared her experience and perspective on the European film industry, discussing the role of markets and festivals as spaces for connecting professionals, developing projects, securing financing, co-production and international cooperation. The session offered Madrid’s audiovisual professionals an opportunity to learn more about the experience of one of the international film industry’s leading platforms and the opportunities available through its different programmes for talent and projects.

The Madrid Audiovisual Cluster’s presence at Iberseries & Platino Industria forms part of its work to strengthen the audiovisual sector in the Community of Madrid, build connections between companies and professionals and support the internationalisation of the industry. Through professional sessions, networking activities and knowledge-sharing initiatives, the Cluster works to create links between the different players across the audiovisual value chain, from creation and production through to distribution, exhibition and specialised services. Its presence at Iberseries & Platino Industria provided a platform to showcase the strength and diversity of Madrid’s audiovisual ecosystem, while creating opportunities to exchange experiences, identify potential partnerships and connect local companies and professionals with international markets and industry hubs. The participation reinforces the Madrid Audiovisual Cluster’s focus on innovation, knowledge exchange and internationalisation, helping connect Madrid-based talent and companies with the national and international players shaping the future of the audiovisual industry.
