Rai 1 is set to bring back I Casi di Teresa Battaglia this autumn with a new chapter, Figlia della cenere, starring Elena Sofia Ricci in the lead role.

The series is a co-production between Rai Fiction and Publispei, the production company led by Verdiana Bixio, with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission. Directed by Kiko Rosati, the new instalment is based on the fourth novel in Ilaria Tuti’s bestselling Teresa Battaglia saga, published by Longanesi – Gruppo Editoriale Mauri Spagnol.

Five months after the events of Ninfa dormiente, Commissioner Teresa Battaglia, played by Ricci, returns to investigate a disturbing new murder alongside inspectors Massimo Marini (Giuseppe Spata) and Giacomo Parisi (Gianluca Gobbi).
The victim is found dead with signs of extreme violence inflicted after death. Further murders follow, all carried out with the same modus operandi, pointing to a serial killer targeting people connected by a dark secret.

As Teresa attempts to reconstruct the killer’s mindset, a figure from her own past resurfaces. Her former husband Sebastiano (Maurizio Donadoni) returns to Udine with his new partner and accuses Teresa of sending him anonymous threats, forcing her to confront unresolved personal trauma while the investigation becomes increasingly dangerous.

The story therefore combines the crime investigation with Teresa’s own battle for survival, as professional pressure and painful memories begin to intersect.
Also returning to the cast is Fausto Maria Sciarappa as Albert Lona, head of the Squadra Mobile and a recurring source of conflict for Teresa.

I Casi di Teresa Battaglia – Figlia della cenere is written by Donatella Diamanti, Mario Cristiani, Vittoria Benedetti and Valerio D’Annunzio, with Cristiani serving as head writer.
