The Escape (8x60’), an action thriller set deep in the Colombian jungle. The series follows Yoel, played by Ido Tako, the young heir to a brutal ultra-Orthodox cult who manages to escape, leaving his wife and son behind. Determined to rescue them, he joins forces with Carmeli, played by Yehuda Levi, a troubled search-and-rescue operative. Their mission soon draws them into a dangerous conflict involving the cult’s ruthless leader, portrayed by Mark Ivanir, and his alliance with a powerful drug cartel. Yoel is ultimately forced to return to the world he escaped and attempt to destroy it from within.
The series was filmed in Colombia, Georgia and Israel and is produced by Reisdor Productions and SE Film Productions for Keshet 12.
Also featured on the scripted slate is Number One Fan (4x60’), produced by Clapperboard Productions for 5 in the UK. The psychological thriller stars Jill Halfpenny as popular television presenter Lucy Logan, whose encounter with an apparently devoted fan, played by Sally Lindsay, develops into an increasingly disturbing and personal campaign of revenge. The four-part drama recently debuted with 28-day viewing figures of 3.4 million viewers and a 10.1% share.
KI’s scripted line-up also includes Keshet 12 crime thriller Murder at the Dead Sea (7x60’), a locked-room murder mystery in which rookie police officer Revi Shem Tov, played by Niv Sultan, finds herself trapped with ten suspects following the apparent suicide of a rising pop star.
Two scripted formats are also returning to market. Created by International Emmy-winning writer and comedian Adir Miller, comedy-drama Reset follows a disillusioned 50-year-old who destroys his carefully constructed life after receiving a terminal diagnosis, only to discover that the diagnosis was wrong.
Romantic comedy Mythological Ex, created by Sigal Avin, follows a woman who is told by a fortune teller that she has already met her soulmate, sending her back through her past relationships in search of the one she may have missed. The format has recently been adapted by Keshet Germany for ZDF as My Ex.
