After working at Sky Italia as European Affairs Manager, Maccanico joined Warner Bros. Pictures in 2004 as Marketing Director, before serving as Managing Director Theatrical from 2009 to 2016. Under his leadership, Warner Bros. Pictures established itself as one of Italy’s leading film distributors, while also contributing to the production of major Italian films.
From December 2016 to April 2021, Maccanico served as CEO of Vision Distribution, the film distribution company established through a partnership between Sky Italia and some of Italy’s leading independent production companies. At the same time, from November 2018 to April 2021, he held the position of Executive Vice President Programming at Sky Italia.
From May 2021 to June 2024, he served as CEO of Cinecittà S.p.A., where he led a major phase of development and enhancement for both the company and Italy’s historic film studios.
Nicola Maccanico’s appointment is part of Rainbow Group’s ongoing growth strategy and is aimed at further strengthening Colorado Film’s position within the Italian and international audiovisual industry, building on its creative heritage and developing new production opportunities.
