Canary Islands’ CIIF Market Opens Call For International Projects

Canary Islands’ CIIF Market Opens Call For International Projects
The Canary Islands International Film Market (CIIF Market) has opened the international call for projects for its 22nd edition, set to take place from October 26 to 30, 2026, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Production companies from Spain and abroad can submit feature films, documentaries, series, miniseries and docuseries in development until September 6. The selected projects will be looking for financing, strategic partners and international co-production opportunities.
Organized by Festeam, Comunicación y Eventos, S.L., CIIF Market is supported by the Tenerife Island Council, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council and the Government of the Canary Islands, among other institutions and industry organizations. Over more than two decades, the event has established itself as a key meeting point in the Canary Islands for producers, distributors, broadcasters, platforms, sales agents, funds and investors from Europe and Latin America.

The 2026 call will select up to 17 projects: 12 for the National and International section and five Canary Islands-based projects for the Focus Canarias section. Participants will gain access to personalized professional meeting agendas, pitch sessions, networking activities and opportunities to connect with potential financial and creative partners.

Who Can Apply?
Projects can be submitted in Spanish or English and may include feature-length fiction or documentary films, fiction series and miniseries, docuseries, as well as transmedia, crossmedia and multiplatform initiatives whose main basis is a cinematographic work. Selection will take into account the projects’ artistic and narrative quality, their international focus, the track record and talent of their creative and production teams, and the strength and viability of their financing plans. Innovation in formats and distribution models, together with previous international co-production experience, will also be considered. Projects must have a budget in euros and demonstrate that at least 20% of their financing is already secured. They must also be in development and have financing opportunities still available.

Registration is free and must be completed through the official CIIF Market website, where the full competition rules are also available. Only selected projects will be required to pay a participation fee, with discounts available to members of collaborating organizations and an exemption for projects from Latin America.

CIIF Market Awards 2026

Selected projects will compete for a range of awards aimed at supporting their development and international reach. The CIIF Market Santa Cruz de Tenerife Award will provide €3,000 to the project considered the best at the market, while the Cabildo de Tenerife Award will recognize the best project from the Canary Islands.

The Music Library & SFX Award will provide one European and one Latin American project with a professional music license from its catalog. The MAFIZ Award will give the European and Latin American projects with the greatest co-production potential the opportunity to participate in the industry area of the Malaga Film Festival 2027. The Blurr Stories Award will offer post-production and delivery services for one European and one Latin American feature film, while the Térrea Award will provide a sustainability plan designed to help selected projects reduce emissions and social impact. The Vector of Ideas Award will include a recording session with a solo musician and a complimentary music license from its specialized catalog.
