CEE Broadcasters Secure New Format Deals and Renewals with WBITVP
At NEM Dubrovnik, Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) has finalized a wave of fresh format commissions and multi-season renewals across Central and Eastern Europe, driven by a strong regional demand for established non-scripted IPs.
The globally recognized dating franchise The Bachelor expands its footprint as Prva TV in Serbia greenlights a first season. Produced by Emotion Productions and scheduled to begin filming this month, the deal makes Serbia the 47th international territory to adapt the flagship format. Concurrently, the spin-off Bachelor in Paradise is expanding in the region, with Romania's Pro TV commissioning its inaugural local version. This follows the successful launch of a 65-episode run in Bulgaria on bTV, which has officially ordered a second season. Romania and Bulgaria now represent the sixth and seventh international adaptations of the spin-off, alongside markets like Germany, Australia, and Canada.

In the factual entertainment segment, the ZDF Studios format Cash or Trash continues its strong performance in the CEE region. After successful debuts last year on Nova TV in both Serbia and Croatia, a second season launched in Serbia last month. The format has already achieved long-term scalability in Hungary, with four seasons on TV2, and in Poland, where it has surpassed the 500-episode mark on Polsat’s TV4.

André Renaud, GVP Format & Finished Sales at WBITVP, said: “Central and Eastern Europe continues to be a vibrant market for international formats, with broadcasters seeking proven brands that can connect with local audiences while delivering scale and longevity. What’s particularly encouraging is the breadth of demand we’re seeing across the region, from major dating franchises and reality formats to factual entertainment brands that continue to earn returning seasons. Together, these commissions and renewals demonstrate both the strength of our catalogue and the confidence broadcasters have in these formats, whether through finding love or finding hidden treasures, and we’re excited to see these brands continue their journeys with audiences across the region over the coming years.”
The deals were brokered by Reema Patel, Director of Formats at WBITVP.
