Seoul-based format agency Something Special has promoted InSoon Kim to Co-CEO and Chief Business Officer, as part of a broader leadership reshuffle aimed at supporting the company’s next phase of growth. Announced by CEO, Founder and Executive Producer JinWoo Hwang, the move sees Kim step up from her previous role as EVP & Head of Content. The company has also promoted Head of Development Moonyoung Song to Vice President and appointed Donggil Seo as Head of Production/Chief Producer, replacing Jacob (Jongbin) Han, who has departed to join Kyonggi University.

“I am so pleased that InSoon was elevated to be Co-CEO with me at Something Special. Since we launched in 2019, InSoon has proven to an instrumental part of our ongoing success. Her insight and creativity have led the team to do their very best. Along with the promotion of Moonyoung to VP and the new head of production, the knowledgeable Donggil, they are going to be key to our next growth level,” said Hwang.
“Working with Jin and the team has been, and will continue to be, a fantastic experience. Together we have had successes and challenges. There are some very exciting projects in the pipeline, and we are pleased that the talented Donggil Seo will join us on this venture,” added Kim.
Kim brings extensive experience in format development and production, having previously held roles across major Korean media companies including CJ ENM and SBS.

Song, who joined the company in 2021, has led international co-development projects and helped build the company’s original unscripted slate, including Unforgettable Duet and The Underdogs (WT), which is set to launch later this year. “Having grown with the company, I’m proud to step into this new role at such a pivotal moment and look forward to working closely with Korean creators and international partners to bring more bold, distinctive Korean formats to audiences around the world,” said Song.

Newly appointed Head of Production Donggil Seo brings a cross-market background spanning Korea and the UK, with previous roles at JTBC, Channel A and Remarkable TV. “It is an honor to join the Something Special team, led by visionary leaders Jin and InSoon. Creating groundbreaking global formats has been a long-standing aspiration of mine throughout my career. I am very excited to pursue this ambition with the team, leveraging my experience in unscripted format development and production across Korea and the UK,” said Seo.
