In April 2026, Sky Italia brought to audiences a highly anticipated documentary dedicated to one of Italy’s most celebrated global artists, Andrea Bocelli. Titled Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, the film offers an unprecedented and deeply personal exploration of the tenor’s life and career.Originally released in late 2024 and now premiering on television and streaming platforms, the documentary is produced by Nexo Studios and directed by Cosima Spender. The project stands out for its narrative approach: for the first time, Bocelli himself takes on the role of storyteller, guiding viewers through his personal and artistic journey in his own voice.
The film allows Bocelli to recount his own story, creating a more intimate and authentic narrative structure. From his childhood in the Tuscan countryside to the life-altering loss of his sight at the age of 12, the documentary reconstructs the formative experiences that shaped both the man and the artist. The story is enriched by a combination of archival material and contemporary footage, including aspects to Bocelli’s private life, with appearances by his wife, Veronica Berti, and his daughter, Virginia Bocelli.
The film also revisits the defining milestones of Bocelli’s 30-year career, tracing his evolution from local performer to international phenomenon. Particular attention is given to his breakthrough in collaboration with Zucchero and the global success of Time to Say Goodbye, performed alongside Sarah Brightman—a track that became one of the best-selling singles of all time. The documentary also highlights Bocelli’s collaborations with major international artists, including Céline Dion, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Lopez, and Dua Lipa.
