ZED Is Boosting Its AI Powered In House Production Slate
ZED has unveiled an ambitious lineup of history documentaries featuring high-end AI-powered reconstructions developed within its own internal studio. With this new slate, the company aims to strengthen its role in documentary innovation by combining generative tools with historical expertise to achieve a level of cinematic realism and intensity.

The current slate includes several premium history titles. "William the Conqueror: The Great Landing" (52') is being produced for the millennium of the monarch's birth in 2027, retracing the Norman fleet’s invasion and the Battle of Hastings. Delivery is set for late 2026. Also scheduled for the end of 2026 is the third season of "Besieged Fortresses, Legendary Battles" (4x52' in 4K), which explores how ancient and medieval strongholds were captured by audacious warlords.

For Summer 2026, ZED will deliver "Knut, the Viking Emperor" (4x52' in 4K), a four-part epic produced for Histoire TV, SVT, ZDF Studios, and Sky History, focusing on the rise of the warrior who united Denmark, Sweden, and England. Additionally, "Babylon: The Tower to the Heavens" (52' & 70'), produced for RMC Découverte and AMC Networks International Southern Europe, is expected in Spring 2026, exploring the construction of the Etemenanki ziggurat.

Building on these projects, ZED is also launching production on a new flagship documentary, "Spartacus, The Man Who Shook Rome" (2x70'). Directed by Fabrice Buysschaert, the series will use AI-powered cinematic reconstructions to detail the life of the gladiator who led the most significant slave revolt in Roman history.

Manuel Catteau, President - Founder at ZED: "Generative AI is a powerful tool that empowers creators of films about ancient history. It renews the genre by making it possible to tell history as never before, with exceptional visual and emotional ambition, while respecting the conventions and ethical standards of documentary filmmaking."
