Mediawan Scores 23 Emmy Nominations with Adolescence, Slow Horses, and Super/Man
Paris-based production and distribution powerhouse Mediawan continues to assert its growing influence in the global content industry with an impressive 23 nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, to be held on September 14, 2025.The French group, which has expanded significantly in the international scripted, unscripted, and documentary fields, is behind some of this year’s most critically acclaimed titles across multiple platforms including Netflix, Apple TV+, and HBO Max.

At the forefront is Adolescence, the harrowing limited series commissioned by Netflix and produced by The Forge, part of the Mediawan group. The series paints a raw and poignant portrait of British teenagers grappling with trauma, social inequality, and the hardships of growing up in marginalized communities. Adolescence earned 13 nominations, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Stephen Graham was nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited Series, while young Owen Cooper made history as the youngest male acting nominee ever at just 15 years old, recognized in the Supporting Actor category. The cast was further celebrated with nominations for Erin Doherty, Ashley Walters, and Christine Tremarco, all competing in the Supporting Actress category. The creative team also shone, with Outstanding Directing for Philip Barantini and Outstanding Writing for creators Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham.Adolescence resonated deeply with audiences and critics alike, praised for its unflinching portrayal of youth and social fracture, securing its place as a frontrunner in multiple Emmy races.

Joining the lineup is Slow Horses, the sharp and suspenseful espionage drama streaming on Apple TV+. Produced by See-Saw Films with Mediawan’s participation, the series returned to Emmy contention with 5 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. The ever-commanding Gary Oldman was nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of the irascible MI5 agent Jackson Lamb, a performance that continues to earn critical acclaim. The show was further acknowledged for Outstanding Writing for the episode Hello Goodbye by Will Smith and Outstanding Directing by Adam Randall.

In the documentary category, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, produced by Words + Pictures and Passion Pictures for HBO Max, secured 4 nominations. The biographical documentary delves into the life of the beloved Superman actor, exploring his personal and public struggles following the accident that left him paralyzed. The film was particularly recognized for Outstanding Music Composition by Ilan Eshkeri, alongside other creative arts nominations that highlight its impactful storytelling and technical excellence.

Rounding out Mediawan’s Emmy presence is Bono: Stories of Surrender, a music-centered special produced by Plan B and streaming on Apple TV+, which earned a nomination and further cements Mediawan’s growing influence in cultural and musical narratives.
