BBC Studios announced today that it has agreed to license Spirit Studios’ comedy format The Stand Up Sketch Show to Israeli public broadcaster Kan for their Kan 11 channel.

The 12 x 30’ series is stand-up with a difference, taking well-known local comedians’ best stand up stories and bringing them to life in side-splitting sketch form. The series is currently in pre-production with My TV Communications and casting will be announced at a later date. Kan 11 is home to other successful BBC Studios formats such as Trust Me I’m a Doctor and The 1% Club.

Israel is the third international market to license The Stand Up Sketch Show format after public service broadcaster SVT in Sweden and a launch across MENA in November last year through Shahid VIP, the world’s leading Arabic SVOD streaming platform, part of MBC GROUP. In the UK, four series have aired on ITV2.

The agreement with Kan was brokered by Tommaso Muffato, Format Sales Manager for BBC Studios.
