Netflix will broacast a new series La Vita Bugiarda next January 2023.
The 6-episode series produced by Fandango and based on Elena Ferrante's novel of the same name published by Edizioni E/O, is directed Edoardo De Angelis (Indivisibili, Il vizio della speranza). The series, written by Elena Ferrante with Laura Paolucci, Francesco Piccolo and Edoardo De Angelis, is filmed and set once again in Naples in the 1990s. The protagonist of La vita bugiarda degli adulti is Giovanna, played by newcomer Giordana Marengo, a girl who will find herself facing the delicate transition from childhood to adolescence, confronting her first discoveries but, above all, a family situation that is not easy, marked by infighting between her parents and an encounter that will change the course of her life with her aunt Vittoria, played by Valeria Golino. In a city divided between the Naples above, which has given itself a fine mask, and the Naples below, which pretends to be immoderate and trivial, Giovanna will seek her place in the world by dividing herself between her dad Andrea, played by Alessandro Preziosi, and her mom Nella, played by Pina Turco - an extraordinary actress as well as De Angelis' muse.
