1) What are the new features of MIA 2022?
The first one for sure is the new section dedicated to Animation that, with Doc&factual, Drama and Film brings to four the sections of MIA.
This edition of MIA will see a richer and wider Co-Production Market and Pitching Forum, also because we received a much higher number of requests than in past years.
Another thing I care a lot about, is supporting the Ukrainian audiovisual industry. We will host a delegation of producers and representatives of the Ukrainian national broadcaster, promoting new projects through the Ukraine Content Lab and presenting the collaborations of recent months between Ukrainian and international content-makers.
2) How is the MIA structured today?
MIA offers a wide range of programs specific to the entire audiovisual sector; in addition to forums dedicated to co-productions and pitching, there will be content showcases, networking activities, panels, and conferences.
MIA is an example of a market event born from a public-private partnership, involving the entire system of the Italian and international audiovisual industry.
It is an event produced by the main industry associations - ANICA and APA - which gives MIA a great analytical capacity and understanding of the needs of the industry. Also crucial are the contributions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, ICE, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Lazio Region as well as the sponsorship of Eurimages
MIA is a market event conceived with editorial care, a unique and effective moment of encounter, with specific programs for different formats and genres and a focus on innovation for the creative industries. It is also an essential platform to learn about the many opportunities that Italy can offer: from financing to international co-production opportunities, and to discover the excellence of creativity, the talent of Italian production companies.
The MIA's digital platform will be active again this year, which will allow remote access to all sessions (live and on-demand).
3) What are the goals of MIA 2022?
MIA has always been a place of meeting and exchange on an international level, the main goal is networking within the Italian and international system, becoming the preferred place for the birth of co-productions on a European and global level.
Today, MIA is one of the key events in the international audiovisual network and has fully entered the calendar of must-attend moments for industry professionals.
My personal goal is to produce a high quality edition that represents a turning point that can meet international audiovisual ecosystem’s needs and brings content to the center of the market.
