DCD Rights has secured pre-sales for its new crime drama The Last to Disappear (6x60’) to ITV in the UK and Acorn TV in North America, ahead of the distributor’s presentation of the title at MIPCOM.

Based on the best-selling novel by Jo Spain, the series stars Sam Keeley (Task, Kin, Dublin Murders), Oona Airola (Hildur, Helsinki Syndrome) and Thea Sofie Loch Næss (La Palma, So Long Marianne).

The story follows an Irish lobbyist working in London who learns that his sister has died in what appears to be an accidental drowning while employed at a luxury resort in Lapland. His investigation soon suggests that her death was no accident and could be connected to a wider series of murders involving other women.

The Last to Disappear is produced by Newgrange Pictures in co-production with Yellow Film & TV for Elisa Viihde.

Nicky Davies Williams, CEO of DCD Rights, described the drama as a “totally engaging” series combining a distinctive setting, strong production values and a tense storyline.

The title will form part of DCD Rights’ premium drama slate at MIPCOM alongside Australian crime thriller Fortitude Valley (6x60’), starring Rupert Everett, Hunter Page-Lochard and Kat Stewart.

Produced by Moving Floor Entertainment for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the series follows detective Ethan Tobane after human remains are discovered beneath a demolished city building. The investigation leads him towards a powerful property magnate and an unexpected connection involving his own father.

DCD Rights will also launch An Impossible Way to Die, a six-part thriller produced by Clapperboard Studios for UK broadcaster 5.

Starring Sharon Rooney and Emmett J. Scanlan, the drama centres on DS Katie Salter, whose routine policing career is transformed by a bizarre murder case involving four victims found dead around a dinner table, with a scorpion emerging from one of the bodies.
