Keshet's
Unscripted Lineup includes several documentaries and new formats.
On the factual side, KI is launching Disaster
Decoded (10x60’), produced by Perpetual Entertainment for Radial
Entertainment. Rather than simply examining how major disasters happened,
the documentary series focuses on what changed afterwards.Through archive
footage, expert analysis and firsthand testimony, the series explores the
decisions, failures and lessons associated with events including the Boxing Day
Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and MH370, examining how major catastrophes reshaped
approaches to safety, risk and survival.
Also joining the factual slate is Iran’s
Most Wanted (1x60’), a documentary originating from UVDA, Keshet
12’s investigative current affairs programme.Authored by journalist and
filmmaker Itai Anghel, the documentary follows Paiman, a Kurdish-Iranian
guerrilla commander leading PJAK, an armed resistance group fighting the
Iranian regime. Filmed inside secret mountain tunnel networks and communities
living under constant threat, the film provides rare access to a world usually
hidden from view.
Another factual title is Pirates of
Antiquities (10x60’), an archaeological true-crime series produced by Ananey
Studios for KAN 11. The series investigates the international black
market for stolen antiquities, following efforts to recover valuable historical
artefacts from looters, dealers and collectors. Two further seasons are already
in development.Returning factual brands include the ninth season of World’s
Most Evil Killers (20x60’), produced by Woodcut Media for Sky Crime,
as well as Casualty 24/7 (6x60’), with the seventh season of Crackit
Productions’ medical factual series returning to one of the UK’s busiest
emergency departments.
Keshet International is also bringing two
new entertainment formats to Cannes.Elevator Pitch is a business reality
competition currently premiering in Brazil on Record News. The format is
built around the classic 60-second elevator pitch, with entrepreneurs given
just one minute to convince a panel of successful business figures that their
idea deserves further investment and development. Those who succeed progress
through a series of increasingly demanding challenges, receiving mentorship
along the way as they refine their business concepts and compete for a
potentially life-changing prize. Also taking centre stage is Who Wants to
Start?, a new celebrity entertainment format created and hosted by Assi
Azar for Keshet 12. Each episode brings together five celebrities
connected by a shared life experience, ranging from anxiety and ageing to
addiction or personal crises. Participants arrive without preparation and
without knowing who else will be taking part.Through prompts hidden in sealed
envelopes and a series of games, the encounter develops into an open and often
emotional conversation, combining personal revelations, humour and unexpected
connections. Produced by Baron Productions, the format is scheduled to
premiere in primetime on Keshet 12 in October.
KI will also re-present primetime quiz
format Domination, recently recommissioned for a second season in
Germany by RTL from Tresor Productions. In the format, contestants
must decide not only whether they can answer questions correctly, but which
demographic groups they believe they can outperform. Drawing on answers
collected from thousands of members of the public, the game combines trivia with
strategic decision-making.
Completing the formats slate is Rising
Star: Runway to Eurovision, the latest evolution of Keshet 12’s talent
format, which is preparing to enter its 13th season. Commenting on the slate, Salomé
Peillon, Acting MD of Distribution at Keshet International, said the
company is bringing titles to Cannes that combine “a great idea, a clear
proposition and the ability to cut through”, highlighting the international
potential of the new scripted, factual and entertainment offerings.
