Several additional projects are currently in post-production. Dangerous Liaisons follows a Manhattan socialite who hires the anonymous writer of a scandal-focused blog to ruin the reputation of her former fiancé. The Scarlet Letter centres on a woman who believes her husband has died overseas and develops a relationship with the young pastor helping her rebuild her life. Meanwhile, Les Misérables follows a student who loses everything and turns to working anonymously behind a webcam, until someone recognises her.
The productions combine actors already familiar to vertical-drama audiences, including Meg Bush, Tyler Harlow and Sophie Swiszcz, with performers from film, television and theatre. Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts features in Jane Eyre, which stars NYU Tisch graduate and Off-Broadway performer Raina Silver opposite Tyler Harlow.
“There isn't a market in the world where these titles need much of an introduction. Every generation has adapted them, and every generation finds its own reason to connect with them,” said Lenny Levi, CEO of LoveHit. “That's what makes them evergreen. We framed everything for both formats and cut two versions: the vertical version is made specifically for mobile devices and has its own way of telling the story, while the horizontal version goes to Cannes, where we're already seeing interest in romance from television and streaming buyers around the world. I'm especially proud that we shot all of it in Los Angeles, using local casts and crews.”
Los Angeles-based Levi has more than 15 years of experience across production, business affairs, international distribution and emerging media. His background includes work with Sony Pictures Entertainment, CBS Television Studios, Paramount Television Studios and Riot Games. He has also produced several feature films and is currently focused on both traditional filmmaking and vertical storytelling.
