MIA 2026 Unveils New Citywide Format And First International Guests
MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo is set to expand its footprint across central Rome for its 2026 edition, transforming Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini into an urban district dedicated to the international film and audiovisual industry. The new format, promoted by ANICA (Italian Association of Film, Audiovisual and Digital Industries) and APA (Italian Audiovisual Producers Association), will bring together creativity, industry, finance and innovation across a series of venues in the heart of the Italian capital. MIA is promoted by ANICA, chaired by Alessandro Usai, and APA, chaired by Chiara Sbarigia, under the direction of Gaia Tridente.

The market has also announced its first international guests, who will take part in the exclusive fireside chats. The line-up includes Marco Bassetti, Chief Executive Officer of Banijay Entertainment; director and producer Edward Berger, whose credits include Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front; Anna Marsh, Deputy CEO of CANAL+, CEO of STUDIOCANAL and Chief Content Officer of CANAL+; and Jane Tranter, CEO & Co-Founder of Bad Wolf and producer behind internationally acclaimed titles including Industry, Succession and The Other Bennet Sister.
Raj Singh, co-founder and CEO of Media Capital Technologies (MCT), will also participate in the European Investment Hub, a new platform focused on the financial tools available to support the audiovisual industry in Europe and internationally.

Palazzo Barberini at the Centre of MIA
Palazzo Barberini will once again serve as MIA’s institutional headquarters and one of the key venues of the market. The historic location will host the main institutional and strategic conferences, reinforcing its role as a meeting point for the audiovisual sector. A central part of the programme will be the European Investment Hub, which will examine financial instruments, investment and European policies supporting the growth of the audiovisual industry. European institutions, public and private funds, banks, investors and international operators will be brought together in Rome as part of the initiative.
During the programme, ANICA will present a study on the evolution of film consumption, while APA will unveil its annual report on the audiovisual industry.

New Hubs
The Hotel Westin Excelsior, overlooking Via Veneto, will join the official MIA circuit for the first time as the new Film & Drama Hub. Its conference and meeting spaces will host pitching forums, showcases, panels and presentations focused on film and series, alongside professional meetings and networking opportunities for sales and buyers.
Also on Via Veneto, the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace will become the new Doc Hub, offering a dedicated conference room as well as spaces for pitching, showcases, professional meetings and networking activities in the doc meeting lounge.
At Piazza Barberini, the Hotel Sina Bernini Bristol will further strengthen its role as a venue for the animation sector. It will host new programmes dedicated to animated series, including Animation Next and the new Gap Financing tool, together with specialist conferences, professional meetings and B2B sessions. The hotel will also accommodate selected closed-door activities, including strategic meetings involving MIA’s international partners and advisory, matchmaking and one-to-one meetings connected to the European Investment Hub.

Spaces for Talent and Business
The Grand Hotel Palace will focus on closed-door business meetings, training programmes, private pitching sessions and discussions between international partners and industry professionals, creating an environment designed to encourage networking.
Another new satellite venue is Spaces Via Veneto, a partner of the event, which will host activities dedicated to talent development, intellectual property and professional training. Its programme will include Unbox, a project aimed at emerging filmmakers who, after making their short films, aspire to make their debut in cinema and series. The initiative is produced in partnership with Alice nella Città. Meanwhile, W Rome will join MIA’s hotel partners as the home of CASA MIA, a meeting point for the market’s international community outside the official programme. Running every day from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, CASA MIA will host networking events designed to provide an informal setting for conversations, new connections and professional exchange.
