IBEROFIC Confirms Marysela Zamora Villalobos’ Regional Leadership
The Ibero-American Network of Film Commissions (IBEROFIC) has confirmed that Costa Rican creative industries strategist Marysela Zamora Villalobos will continue to serve on its Board of Directors, leading a regional agenda focused on strengthening women’s leadership in the audiovisual sector and boosting the international profile of Spanish-language content.

Zamora Villalobos will oversee two key strategic initiatives: promoting greater female leadership in audiovisual production and supporting the global positioning of Spanish-language content. The programme will also seek to encourage cooperation between Ibero-American countries, facilitate international market access, foster co-productions and attract new investment to the region.

“Marysela has been a key voice in strengthening regional cooperation and positioning Costa Rica within the Ibero-American audiovisual conversation,” said Carolina Cordero, Founder and President of IBEROFIC, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to long-term collaboration beyond individual institutional mandates.

Zamora Villalobos has more than 12 years of experience across audiovisual policy, production and the creative economy. As Costa Rica’s Film Commissioner, she led the country’s strategy for attracting audiovisual investment and oversaw more than 200 national and international productions, working with companies including Warner Bros. Discovery, NBCUniversal, Hulu, ITV and BBC Studios. She also headed the Costa Rica Media Market, helping establish it as a key audiovisual industry event for Central America and the Caribbean.

“I firmly believe that the next great chapter in audiovisual media will be written in Spanish,” Zamora Villalobos said, adding that her work at IBEROFIC will focus on expanding opportunities for Ibero-American talent, strengthening regional cooperation and attracting further investment.

Founded in 2024, IBEROFIC brings together more than 150 film commissions and provides access to 95% of the incentives and cash rebates available across Latin America, with the aim of strengthening collaboration and integration within the Ibero-American audiovisual ecosystem.
